The people supported by SNAPSO are vibrant active members of society.  They are extremely able and capable of forming relationships, making lasting connections to their community and above all, enjoying life.

Regardless of their disabilities, these individuals are active and visible in the community and beyond.  They have choices in how their lives will unfold on a daily basis and perhaps surprisingly, they are growing in unexpected ways.  They are learning new skills through the opportunities presented to them and it is exciting to watch the evolution.

Their day program is an integral part of their lives and has opened up a whole new world for them.  Their weekly activity schedules are as important to them as a smart phone is to most because it represents their lives from Monday to Friday.  Although most are unable to read, they scrutinize their program schedules with excitement beyond normal understanding as they prepare for another week of life with meaning, purpose and a deep sense of belonging in their programs and their community.

SNAPSO also supports families in ensuring that relevant developmental services information is disseminated to all. SNAPSO provides a forum for participants, families/caregivers to meet, exchange information, learn relevant strategies and above all, how to navigate the system of developmental services.

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment!

A Note from Michael...

My name is Michael and I'm a SNAPSO participant, I want to tell you how the program has changed my life.  Every day, that I go to program I'm happy and excited for the day ahead.  If I didn't find SNAPSO I would be bored at home.

I like helping with the board, on who is here or away and love schedule planning.  I love helping collect the pizza money and writing down who will have one slice or two.  I have met so many friends and Staff is wonderful!!  I get to go out in the community and see so many new things and sometimes meet new people.  I get excited waiting for each weeks schedule, to see what I'm doing.  Our Wednesday lunch helps me sometimes try new things to eat and they are very good lunches.

SNAPSO has helped me become more independent and helps me set goals, like being more flexible and trying to do more at home. I even make my bed every day, put dishes in the dishwasher and sometimes I wash them at home.  I never did this before going to SNAPSO.

Going to this program makes me excited for every day and makes me smile.  I love going to SNAPSO so much, I'm adding another day and can't wait. I will be going four days a week yippee!!!!

Thanks everyone for letting me be part of SNAPSO.
